Hand expression is a wonderful way to collect milk if you don't have an electric pump or if you do not "let down" for a pump. It is also used to increase the milk supply if done after feedings or after pumping. Hand expression is useful if baby is having difficulty latching. Mother can hand express into a spoon and spoon feed her baby colostrum.
